Summer is still going strong in Loudoun County. Even though the days are a little shorter, you can still find plenty of activities to capture the feel of summer, all just a short drive away. We wanted to highlight some of the best events around the county, ranging from family-friendly to an evening out with your spouse. If you’re interested in celebrating the county’s more agrarian roots, the Lucketts Fair (August 15-16) might be the best place for you. Held at the Lucketts Community Center, this great event offers a lot of family-friendly activities. There’s bluegrass bands, hayrides, a grape stomp, delicious baked goods and so much more. Admission is only $5 and children under 6 are free! Fans of live music have a lot to look forward to in August. Every Saturday and Sunday in August, 868 Estate Vineyards is hosting live music on its grounds. From rock to jazz to blues, they have local artists to cover all the bases. You can also visit the Bogati Bodega winery and enjoy one of their Friday Night Live concert series. Enjoy a glass of wine by the fire and take in the flavor of Latin America. Outdoor movies are a uniquely summer activity that many people love. There are many places across the county that host outdoor movies showings throughout the month of August. One of the most scenic places to watch a film is on the Great Lawn of Salamander Resort & Spa. Bring a blanket and chairs and you can take in the serene setting while you enjoy your movie. You’ll find more locations to watch outdoor movies here. Foodies and crab lovers also have a couple of different events to look forward to in the month of August. On August 16th, Creek’s Edge is hosting an all-you-can-eat crab feast to celebrate the bottling of their 2014 vintage. You can head out to the 3rd annual Crab & Wine Feast in Leesburg, VA. This event, taking place at the Lost Creek winery, features all-you-can-eat crab, great wine and music. For a lot of people, August signals the winding down of summer. However, in Loudoun County, there’s still plenty of things to do to keep summer going strong. Enjoy the rest of summer with a great event around the area!
